Typical food
During the summer time, we recommend that you regain your strength by tasting one of the typical herdsmen’s meals- sour milk and hard-boiled corn mush. Herdsmen will gladly offer you some home made cheese or other dairy products.
In the lodging houses guests can try some of the tasty soups and stews of Slovenian origin, such as “jota” “ričet”, or goulash with bread dumplings and other meat specialties.
The lodging house Jarški dom on Mala planina is particularly famous for its cheese dumplings ("štruklji"). The lodging house Zeleni rob on Velika planina is famous for its cheese and apple pie.
We recommend you to taste one of the venison specialties in the valley of the river Kamniška Bistrica.
