Cross-country skiing

The cross-country skiing trails are located between Zeleni rob and Mala planina and are appropriate for the skating technique.

We recommend that, after exiting the cable car, you continue your ride by the double seat lift to the beginning of the trail on Zeleni rob (the intermediary station of the double seat lift). The circular trail passes the herdsmen's settlement and the lodging house Domžale on Mala planina, where it returns back to Zeleni rob.

There is also a cross-country skiing polygon available to those less demanding. It is located nearby the tow Zeleni rob. We recommend that, after exiting the cable car, you continue going by foot along the ski slope. After 10 minute walk you will reach the beginning of the cross-country skiing trail.

The first cross country skiing event on the mountain

We are pleased to announce that in February we were hosting 80 cross country skiers from 11 different countries. They visited Velika planina under the aegis of x-country ski tour. The event took place in the Middle Europe for the very first time and the participants covered 230 km of skiing altogether. The international skiing event took place on 30 km long, well prepared ski trail and the skiers enjoyed the beautiful winter idyll of the mountain. We are particularly pleased that, according to the surveys, the participants enlisted the mountain on the second place (immediately after Rogla). We are hoping that we will also host the next year’s event, and are looking forward to it.
