After the guided tour of the Velika planina, you will go with the guide to the most interesting corners in the valley of Kamniška Bistrica. You will see the Predaselj gorge. Over the millennia, the Kamniška Bistrica river carved out a narrow passage, sometimes 35 meters deep, called Predaselj. A large rock is wedged in it, over which a path is led. After a short lull, the water plays again in the smaller basins of Mali Predaslje, which are significantly shorter and lower. Here, too, a rock has stopped between the walls, which also creates a natural bridge. From the gorge, you will drive to the source of Kamniška Bistrica, where one of the cleanest rivers in Slovenia originates.

From the highest point of the Velika planina (Gradišče, 1666 m), you will walk along the Velika planina with a herbalist and see and identify medicinal plants in nature. The focus of the workshop is on sustainable harvesting of plants and respect for nature. The workshop also includes instructions on drying and storing medicinal herbs and the benefits of using wild plants, herbs and other “weeds” from your doorstep. We will not collect plants, but we will look at them and learn which ones are medicinal and how to use them. In addition to the basic 2-hour workshop, it is possible to add a workshop showing the preparation of various medicinal preparations – water extracts, syrups, whole herbs, powdered herbs, tinctures, macerates, herbal vinegars and vaporization of dry herbs.

Trniči are a type of hard cheese with a characteristic pear shape, which are made in the area of Velika, Mala and Gojška planina in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. They are made of cottage cheese, cream and salt and decorated with special ornaments, which are embossed with relief-carved wooden planks or sticks, the so-called i. fonts. Trnič is used in the daily diet, often as an addition to dishes.

Gostilna Zeleni rob is the only inn on Velika Planina. The terrace offers a wonderful view of the surrounding hills and the Ljubljana basin. They offer home-made dishes such as stews, sausage with sauerkraut and buckwheat brandy, goulash and excellent sweet cottage cheese štruklja. We have prepared special menus for groups.

In the shepherd’s village you will get excellent sour milk and buckwheat brandy, homemade cheese and crispy homemade bread! Reservations are required for larger groups.
