Dear visitors of Velika Planina,
We would like to inform you that, due to extremely dry weather conditions, a high wildfire risk has been declared throughout Slovenia.
The Slovenian Administration for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief has issued the following prohibitions in natural areas:
- Lighting fires or burning outdoors, including near infrastructure facilities,
- Lighting bonfires,
- Using items or devices that may cause fire (e.g., barbecues, gas stoves, etc.) outside of built-up areas,
- Launching fireworks or other pyrotechnic activities,
- Disposing of burning or flammable objects that could ignite a fire.
We kindly ask all visitors to exercise maximum caution and to strictly comply with these prohibitions and all instructions from the relevant authorities.
According to the Slovenian Environment Agency (ARSO), the topsoil in most of Slovenia is currently extremely dry due to a prolonged lack of rainfall and high evaporation, which significantly increases the risk of wildfires.
