Trnič Day on Velika Planina
Join us for Trnič Day, a traditional event dedicated to one of Velika Planina’s most iconic symbols – trnič, a unique shepherd’s cheese with a rich history and a remarkable story. The event takes place on 2 August in front of the Preskar Museum.
Discover how trnič is made, the simple ingredients it contains, and the important role it once played in the lives of shepherds, as well as how it is used in modern cuisine today. An experienced cheesemaker will demonstrate the traditional production process, and visitors will have the opportunity to create their own trnič during interactive workshops.
After the workshops, head to Zeleni Rob Restaurant, where you can enjoy delicious dishes prepared with trnič and discover its distinctive flavour through authentic mountain-inspired cuisine.
Trnič Day is a wonderful opportunity to experience the rich shepherding heritage of Velika Planina, discover traditional craftsmanship, and savour local flavours in a beautiful Alpine setting.
The trnič-making workshop at the Preskar Museum is FREE of charge.
