Mountain cycling and rent a bike

The mentioned form of recreation is becoming more and more popular in recent years. You can also find many opportunities for cycling on Velika planina. We took the cablecar to the mountain, continue the route for 2.5 km to the Zeleni rob inn.

From there, the route takes you through Shepherds settlement to the Mačkin kot parking lot. After the parking lot, you can return to the valley of Kamniška Bistrica by another road, or you can return by the same route and go to the valley with the cablecar. Bicycles are not permitted on the chairlift. For cable car there’s additional price for bike cargo.

Mountain biking rules:

  • We only drive on forest roads and paved roads or marked routes
  • Drive according to your abilities
  • Be responsible to others
  • Do not drive without protective equipment (helmets…)

OUR TIP: If you’re visiting Velika Planina by bike and using the cable car, we recommend taking the cable car no later than 9:00 a.m. This helps you avoid the busiest part of the day, as bicycles take up a significant amount of space in the cabin.

Bicycles are not permitted on the chairlift, so from the upper cable car station to the top you should allow about 15 minutes of uphill cycling or walking (approximately 250 metres of elevation gain).
